Wang Yangming was a Ming Dynasty general-philosopher who faced exile and battles throughout his turbulent life.

While struggling in a remote exile, he spent nights meditating inside a stone coffin. He realized that the principle of things is not outside, but in the inner goodness (Liangzhi) of the mind, practicing this in battles.
