Aristotle studied at Plato's Academy for 20 years and was recognized as the most outstanding disciple. He paid attention to the concrete order of nature and human life rather than Plato's abstract world of Ideas.
He argued that moral virtue cannot be gained by reading books, but is completed only as a 'habit' (Hexis) through daily practice. He taught that only those who repeat good actions to form habits can build a stable, excellent character.
