"All conditioned things are impermanent. Where there is attachment, there is suffering."
Today's Question
If you completely let go of one thing you're holding onto right now, would your mind feel lighter, or more anxious?
What a prince who left his palace realized: everything flows on
After witnessing old age, sickness, and death outside his palace walls, the Buddha (Siddhartha) left in search of the root of human suffering. After six years of austerity, he concluded that suffering's true cause is 'attachment' — wanting the changing to stay unchanged.
He taught that everything in the world constantly arises and passes away, like a flowing river or a candle flickering out. People suffer, he said, not because things change, but because they cling to what changes and wish it were permanent.
